Why this petition matters

Started by Stephen Taylor

After a recent bad experience I propose that the law is changed in the UK to stop  house buyers from pulling out of sales right up to exchange of contracts with no financial penalty. I propose the laws should be brought inline with Scotland and once the buyer accepts the findings of a house survey and instructs his solicitor to fully purchase they should be bound by law to complete the sale or face penalties to reimburse the seller and any associated agents involved in the sale of any costs that have been incured.

After a recent sale collapse it has left the seller, estate agent and the mortgage broker out of pocket without an explanation as to why. In this day and age this is totally unacceptable and adds unnecessary stress and misery to people's lives.
