My name is Karan Sajnani and I'm a proud British National... I was arrested on the the 9th of January 2021 as I was wrongly accused in a drug scandal which kept me behind bars till the 30th of September 2021... I was arrested by the narcotics control beaureau (NCB) which today is under scrutiny as they are questioned for their unlawful arrests....194kgs of marijuana which the beaureau arrested me for turned out to be herbal smokeables which is alternative choice for smokers who want to quit cigarettes.. a product which is made of nothing but liquorice roots, marshmallow leaves, raspberry leaves and muellins... I used to sell it on amazon India and health and wellness stores throughout India... when I was arrested i told the officers that our products are sold nationwide and showed them all the necessary documents, but they still refused to listen... they said I will have to wait till the lab results are out ... till then I would be accused and will have to spend time in jail... I mentioned to the officers that its even sold on amazon and amazon does its due diligence to check on the products before listing them.... the beaureau clearly had a hidden agenda and hence wasn't willing to listen and said they will be going to the amazon office in indoa and will have them arrested to... which I found bizarre... after going to their office I was surprised to see my secretary there to MS Rahila Furniturewala.. an Indian national who also was arrested for the same matter.. Rahila previously had been working as a secretary for a a well know bollywood actress...two days later they also arrested Sameer Khan who is the son in law of a sitting cabinet minister in maharastra.. Sameer Khan's reason for his arrest was told that he finances my business... which was not true... whilst being detained for the first 12 days at the NCB office I was asked nothing about my case and instead was asked about my sexual relationship with my secretary, I was asked about about the number of sexual encounters I have had all these years and was asked describe each of those encounters.. which I found odd and very very disturbing which the thought haunts me till today...

Our news went spread like fire, the media took it nation wide and I was labeled "king pin" of the drug trade in india.... 

Whilst being in custody we were told that the lab report will only take a few days and we will be free if the reports show that the products are non physcoactive/physcotropic...we were lied to and they presented the reports with the charge sheet in court after 180 days... till then we were in jail...once it was clear that the merchandise wasn't drugs it took an additional 3 months for us to get bail...

During this whole course of being arrested I realized that I was caught in a political crossfire between the central and state government... I was made collateral damage in a political vendetta between the two....

I have never in my 41 years of existence even got a parking ticket, I am a law abiding citizen... I feel I was taken for a ride and was made a fool of by the beaureau... being in jail for nearly 9 months wasn't something I deserved especially when my products are there to help people quit the addictions... I feel I paid a heavy price for something I didn't do... 

The story doesn't end here... 2 weeks after being sent to prison I was again called back by the beaureau and was arrested in the "Sushant Singh death probe" which was the biggest media highlighted case of 2020/2021 the beaureau whought it would be great media attention to have me as a British national accused in that case to... not only now did I face the embarrassment of being a drug lord my family received death threats for being linked to the Sushant Singh suicide case... thr charges against me for that was conspiracy of his murder...  which was bizarre as I had no links to that case at all... the beaureau threatened me and said it is important that I should accept the charges and they would let me out soon... looking at my vulnerable state they cornered me... I had no choice and accepted what was being thrown at me...

Thr beaureau's negligence has caused imparrible losses to our family, my father today now suffers alzheimers and doesn't recognize me.. both my parents were sent to the ICU as their Covid was severe..

My sister went through labor and delivered a baby boy.. but was also in the ICU a month before the delivery as she also had severe covid symptoms..

Being in jail and facing such issues made me feel so helpless and at times I wanted to commit suicide....

Nearly 9 months after being free for a wrongly accused, life after exoneration presents a plethora of issues... thr abrubt shift of personality poses new obstacles for the wrongly accused such as isolation from loved ones and a loss of autonomy.. victims like us are socially ostracized after release.. our human rights have been severely violated... 

I don't want other foreign nationals to go through what I have gone through.... I don't want anyone to go through what I've gone through...
