Modern fireworks have progressed a long way since the days of a good old Roman Candle, both in the visual presentation (which can be quite stunning) and in the aural presentation resulting in loud bangs, including some mortar like explosions that rattle the windows. 

Such loud bangs are distressing to animals and (sometimes I guess) to humans and are completely unnecessary. There are now more and more firework displays (it's not just November the 5th these days) and noisy displays have become even more invasive and stressful for all the victims, animal and human.

Given that banning fire work displays is neither appropriate, achievable or desirable, firework manufacturers should be banned from making fireworks that have any form of explosive content, and be restricted to visual effects only.
