Why this petition matters

Started by Catherine Lee

Above, Harvey, likes nothing more than to get onto the greenery,  any greenery!!!

1. People need activity and diversion during this emergency, learning to grow and eat own food is ideal for mental health, everyone agrees that a garden is a peaceful relaxing space.

2. Garden centre staff/owners, have worked solidly for months preparing, planting, potting on etc for this 2 or 3 months of peak trading , and most of their premises are outdoors anyway so can enable social distancing

3  So surely To prevent more collapsing businesses, often small business’s.      And for the healthy minds and bodies of the public, this service should  be considered essential

4. We should even think in a bigger way, the youngsters who bored. (And the older ones come to that!)., could  be given the opportunity to access plants etc., and plant for other people, and themselves.  Help on allotments,  help in public gardens, most of which are now a disgrace, and which once were the pride of Britain’s Cities and Villages.

So please sign, garden lover or not, your mental health will be improved by growing, your boredom will be eased (even on a balcony!) and jobs and small garden centres may be saved.
