While the UK was locked down & while London was in “tier 3” a Christmas party took place at 10 Downing Street on the night of 18th December through to early hours of the morning on 19th December 2020, several accounts have confirmed, including former chief of staff, Dominic Cummings.

While this was happening, people were having to spend Christmas apart from their loved ones, Many were alone during a Mental Health crisis and many were not able to be there for their loved ones as they passed away. 

In contrast, on the 17th December 2020 the Metropolitan Police posted on their Twitter account that they had “shut down” a wedding where 40 guests were gathered. In the same tweet they pointed out the risk to public health of such gatherings using these words: “holding large gatherings could mean the difference between life & death to someone else”. Why is it one rule for those in Downing Street and another for everyone else? 

In March 2021 the Metropolitan Police used Covid-19 restrictions to break up public gatherings, including using force against women to break up a peaceful vigil following the murder of Sarah Everard on that occasion the risk to public health was cited when they stated: “we were placed into this position because of the overriding need to protect peoples safety” 

This is a betrayal of the publics trust, we need a leader and MP's who lead by example and don't take the country for fools
