On the 2nd of February 2021 we lost someone who became an inspiration for many during this pandemic. Captain Sir Tom Moore Who started walking laps around his garden initially To raise a few hundred pounds for NHS charities, captivated the world as he went on to raise well over £32 million and inspire generations of people to follow in his footsteps.

Walking 100 laps of your garden over the course of a number of days may not seem a lot, when you are 99 years old it may seem like an impossible task but one that Sir Tom never wavered from. As the money kept pouring in, he humbly carried on his routine proudly wearing his medals from his service to our country.
what I am proposing is that on Friday 16th of April which was the date in 2020 that he completed his 100 lap at 0830 the country comes together to clap and cheer his efforts.
I also think that the 16th of April should also be a national day of fundraising where people can set out by doing laps of their garden, driveway or anywhere and raise money for whatever charities they choose.
As we continue to battle this horrible virus we should remember although this who have both been on the front line in combating Covid and all those families who have lost loved ones.
Most of all we should remember the immortal words from Sir Captain Tom Himself

“Tomorrow will be a good day”
