David Burnetts started this petition to Boris Johnson (Prime Minister) and

Captain Sir Tom Moore, was a remarkable and inspirational centenarian.
He had served his King and country during WWII with pride and bravery, helping to protect Britain’s coastlines and serving in Burma, as part of the Fourteenth Army often referred to as the Forgotten Army. My own father was also part of these brave soldiers who had felt isolated and forgotten.

In later life, Sir Tom displayed the same stoic determination and courage as he tirelessly raised donations for the charitable funds for the NHS during this country’s battle with the global pandemic, Covid-19.

His charismatic smile and attitude were a beacon that resonated with the entire country, young and old and of all religious and ethnic communities.

As a Licensed London Cabbie and tour guide, may I suggest that the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square could be an appropriate and fitting location for a permanent commemorative statue to honour Captain Sir Tom Moore.

David Burnetts.
