There are numerous amounts of roads work in the surrounding area of Borden Village  This is causing a real problem for villagers and the school as it becomes unsafe and at a standstill in the morning due to commuters and other drivers thinking they will get to their destination quicker. I have personally seen on mornings this last week parents having to abandon cars and walk their children along the road to school (school Lane coming from chestnut street) where cars are still coming along at speed then having to suddenly stop because of the build up. I have also heard other parents mention that coming from Borden village down school Lane cars mounting the kerb. Some parents have been abused by drivers as well because we haven't walked our children to school and have parked our cars on the road. Whether we drive our children or walk them the route is extremely unsafe and something needs to be done. KCC highways really need to do something and consider our safety. They never seem to think about doing these roadworks in the holidays when no  child or parent are around.
