A meeting is being scheduled for early next week between Bord na Mona and TDs Barry Cowen and Carol Nolan. Deputy Cowen has agreed to present this petition in support of Pat Barrett to Bord na Mona representatives.
Over the last number of days, Pat’s story has gained momentum and has been subject to growing coverage in Irish media. Local and national news papers, RTÉ Radio 1, TG4 and a plethora of social media publishers have all brought the issue into the public spotlight.
As of writing this update, the petition currently stands at over 11,000 signatures. I would like to thank every single person who has taken the time to lend their support to this cause. If we are truly serious about rural Ireland and rural communities we must support small local enterprise.
We hope that the overwhelming response in support of Pat and his family will help to influence the actions of the relevant parties.
