Wet wipes are one of the greatest environmentally damaging product, contributing on a huge scale to ocean pollution and chocking the innocent aquatic life. Nearly all major facewipe brands, particularly those sold at large pharmacy stores such as Boots, contain plastic fibres. Not only are these fibres bad for skin, but do NOT degrade. As such, these wipes end up in the ocean and are swallowed by marine wildlife who mistake them for jellyfish. 

However, wet wipes make up a huge part of the UK's income with almost everyone using several wipes on a daily basis and disposing in a standard bin with ease of concern. Nearly all these people have opted to buy the 'cheapest' wet wipes, or those made more available to them.

Boots already sells an excellent range of biodegrable and cruelty free face wipes, but I believe that simply reducing the cost of TRUE biodegradable face wipes will encourage purchase and, consequently, reduce wet wipe ocean pollution.
