Boots: cut the price of the morning after pill
This petition made change with 25,512 supporters!
Boots UK has refused to reduce the cost of emergency contraception, despite clear evidence that they're selling it at up to six times the wholesale cost.
The morning after pill at Boots costs between £26.75 - £28.25, twice as much as it would when purchased from Tesco or Superdrug and over 4 times as much as it costs on the continent, according to the British Pregnancy Advice Service (BPAS) #justsaynon campaign. When BPAS wrote to Boots asking them to reduce their prices, the chief pharmacist refused, saying this might encourage "inappropriate use".
I know that if enough of us sign this petition we will grab Boots' attention. Last year I started a petition after finding out that Boots were charging women more for the same product than men - they were operating sexist pricing. But after 40,000 signatures I had a meeting with their CEO and they made changes to their prices. We can do this again!
Not only is Boots yet again putting profits before the healthcare needs of the millions of women who shop in its stores, their justification is insulting and offensive to women who have the right to access healthcare without judgement, and without being told they can't be trusted to make appropriate decisions.
Sign this petition to stop women being treated unfairly once again by Boots - and support BPAS in their #justsaynon campaign to tell Boots UK to charge a fair price for this drug.
