COVID-19 vaccines have been shown to be very effective against SARS-CoV-2 infection, severe disease, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. Incidence rates of new SARS-CoV-2 infection as well as rates of hospitalization, ICU admission, and mortality continue to be highest among unvaccinated individuals. In addition, those who have been vaccinated are less likely to become infected, and therefore are less likely to transmit SARS-CoV-2 infection to others.

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization and Health Canada have approved a third dose of Covid-19 vaccine for adults 18 and older. In the face of the Omicron variant, rising rates of Covid-19, and waning immunity from the primary series, it is prudent for us all to receive a third dose 6 months after our second dose.

We have ample supply of Covid-19 vaccine in Ontario to be offering it, now, to all adults 18 and older. We have the capacity to do so. By delaying the booster, we risk the health and wellbeing of our population and risk additional strain on our already overwhelmed healthcare system.

Please sign this petition to demand that we ALL have access to Covid-19 boosters now. It is unconscionable to leave essential workers (grocers, educators, childcare providers, cleaners, bus drivers, servers, truck drivers, construction workers, others), caregivers, people with disabilities, parents of young children - all Ontarians who received their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine at least 6 months ago - to wait for their third dose.

There is no reason, other than political lack of will, to wait until 2022.
