Scrap the screen, raise the railing

We, the people of Bolton, object to plans by the Labour led council to introduce a floor to ceiling glass screen in the public gallery and believe there are better ways of spending public cash whilst ensuring the health and safety of the public who may attend council meetings.
THe public gallery has been largely unchanged for 150 years. That's 150 years without injury or incident.
Indeed we believe that rather than being created for health and safety reasons it is, in fact, being proposed in order to prevent public engagement.
We recognise that during busy meetings the low railing could be determined a safety hazard and instead propose using considerably less money to merely raise the railing.
