Lainey Anderson started this petition to Boise State students and faculty and

In July 2019, a letter was sent to President Marlene Tromp of Boise State University that addressed the diversity programs and efforts that are currently implemented at the university, and implied that these programs were unnecessary. As students at Boise State, we have experienced and believe the exact opposite.

We believe that diversity is not only an important thing to support, but the lack of diversity programs would affect the student body in negative ways. By signing this petition, you agree with us and help us defend the idea that diversity, representation, and support for students of all backgrounds at Boise State is not only important, but an integral part of education.

With the current myriad of programs that support students' religion, heritage, sexual orientation and identification, we are given a space to grow, learn, and develop as determined and confident individuals. Despite the arguments that these types of programs are diminishing the focus on academic excellence--through our experiences as students we understand that this is not the case--and we hope that you will too!
