Please extend winter hours at Boise City Parks for dogs & their owners

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

We are residents of Boise who pay taxes to use our city parks. Many of us have dogs and use the parks for socialization and exercise for our pets, as well as ourselves.

While we appreciate having the parks available as part-time off leash dog parks, we feel the winter hours should be extended. It is very cold before 10 am,  gets dark early, then cold at night. Many of the citizens who use the parks are elderly. The parks are largely empty all day. The bulk of the users are dog owners and their dogs. We advocate proper usage of the parks, but find it difficult to work within the time frame allotted. Also, many times in the winter and spring the foothills are off-limits, and we respect proper trail usage.

Would you please consider extending the hours? We would like to propose off leash before 12 pm and after 2 pm. Better yet, off leash all winter like they have at Katherine Albertson Park. Many of us do not like to take our dogs there due to the ample amounts of goose droppings. Perhaps you could visit some of the parks and see the usage for yourselves. We feel this is a win, win for our beautiful city. It encourages community involvement, people taking care of their pets, and saves our trails! Thank you very much for your consideration.
