My Alma Mater, Moi Girls School, Nairobi, has been a institution of excellence. The school helped to mould who I am today.

However, recent happenings have made some of us question whether how the school is being run is effective. Just last year, there was a fire that led to the death of more than 10 students and to date, we have not received any information as to what could have happened and whether the proposed safety changes were implemented.

It is unfortunate that we are now grappling with news of rape/defilement within the vicinity of the school, yet another breach of security that has left our sisters traumatized.

It is my belief that the time is now for the captains of this ship to own responsibility and step down to allow new leadership to take course and open up discussions on how to improve on the status of the school. This includes the principal and other top management.

Jeff Bridges once said that "The way to change the world is through individual responsibility and taking local action in your own community. " Let us begin here as we chart the way forward to restore the greatness of this great institution.
