Hello! Vallejo, a city rich with culture and diversity, is impacted by the several events that have transpired as a result of police brutality and social injustice. Many of those who live here are taking action in support and solidarity of #BlackLivesMatter, George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all the innocent black lives we have lost to racial injustice time and time again. Many local governments, however, have been countering this call to action by enacting a curfew in order to subdue protestors. While Bob Sampayan, the mayor of Vallejo, has recently made it clear that no curfew is planned so far, this is only due to the fact that local protests have so far been peaceful (https://www.timesheraldonline.com/2020/05/31/vallejo-mayor-says-no-curfew-planned-as-city-braces-for-another-night-of-protesting/ As the desire for change only grows stronger, so does the intensity of protesting and resistance. This petition is to assure our right to assembly by showing support for sustaining our current curfew and preventing it from being modified to work against local protestors.

Tl;dr: Don't make our curfews early!
