Oyster Bay Community Rowing (OBCR) has the largest youth rowing program in the Town of Oyster Bay encompassing 5 schools (Syosset, Oyster Bay, Friends Academy, Portledge, and Our Lady of Mercy).  Since OBCR’s formation in 2017, the youth program has grown rapidly to 83 middle and high school students. Capacity of our current SHARED OUTDOOR location at Oakneck Athletic Association facility at Center Island Beachfront has reached capacity, limiting the growth of the program. 
 
In Feb 2022, a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the ONLY OTHER rowing facility in the Town of Oyster Bay at the Western Waterfront - Building H has opened for proposals.  Building H is a larger COVERED location that would allow the expanding OBCR youth program to train indoor during inclement weather on ergs, while having nearby access to the waterfront for training and regattas. Recently, Building H was  being used by a youth program from the Town of Hempstead.
