Hauppauge Board of Education: Keep your promise to keep our class sizes small!

In 2014, the families of Hauppauge Schools came together in order to ask the district to do right by our children by decreasing class sizes in several grades across all three elementary schools.  At an August 26, 2014 BOE meeting, it was announced that the district would be breaking several of the largest classes, including the 2014 Kindergarten classes at the Pines, who had up to 27 of our youngest students piled into each class.

Sadly, only three years later, that same group of children is again being crammed into three fourth grade classes with an estimated class size of 26 students each.

We, the parents and families of the Hauppauge School District, find this to be unacceptable, and consider it a step backwards for our children.  We ask the Board of Education and the administration of Hauppauge Schools to keep their promise to keep our class sizes small.

Please view the attached video of the August 26, 2014 Board Meeting where it was decided to return to the smaller class size cap AND to keep class sizes consistent in across all three elementary schools in the district.  This discussion begins at 10 minutes into the meeting.
