Aladdin Al-Shawabkah started this petition to Boardman High School administration

We, as students at BHS, need to stop being so ignorant and oblivious to the ever changing rules of BHS, and start to be more active to have our voices heard in the administration. Through my three years of attending BHS, I’ve not once heard of a way to allow students to have a voice or a say in what happens to BHS or what CAN be done. This coming school year of 2019-2020, students will no longer be permitted to carry around book-bags during all periods. Yes we will be allowed to carry book-bags into the school, but we are required to empty them out into our locker as soon as the morning bell rings to get to your respective first period class. After that, book-bags are prohibited to be carried. I believe anybody at Boardman High School should have the right to carry around their book bag, personal bag, purse, etc, for whatever reason that may not have to be explained and/or justified. Though the locker is there to keep our valuables and personal items, it simply is a bother and waste of class time if one were to need something from there. Asking to go to the restroom has always been a question that most teachers consider repetitive after the first three times of ANY student who asks in the class, and now having to ask to go in the hall isn’t going to help neither, if not, worsen the situation. Yes, students SHOULD be prepared for every class, but the majority of students have always preferred to carry around most, if not ALL their items & books. This could really throw off students, like myself, who have always preferred carrying around all books & items in a carry on book-bag. A lot of rules and changes have been surrounding BHS the past 2 years, and not once have any of the students had a say in anything, nor have a chance to put their voice out there for any new changes at all. It is all up to the administration and/or superiors now to change or reverse this newly added rule to the year of 2019-2020 and beyond. Whether this petition receives attention or not, I know that I have tried, as a senior at my home school Boardman, to make a change and finally give students a chance to be heard by the administration/superiors. This petition is in no way shape or form bashing nor providing hate speech towards the administration of Boardman High School. I simply am a senior trying to help my fellow peers and underclassmen’s voices be heard.
