UPDATE 6/30/21: Pledge Your Support of the Friends of Music at Dominican
Please help us retain the Music Minor at Dominican and make a pledge! Any amount is greatly appreciated.

Use the link HERE to make your pledge.

PLEASE NOTE, Change.org will ask you for a donation when you sign the petition, but that money will not go to the Music Department. We kindly ask that you direct your pledge to the link above.

Pledge donations are for an annual donation amount with a three year commitment. Your donation will be used as a general fund to run the department. As a non-profit organization your charitable donation will be tax deductible. We are only seeking pledges at this time and will ask for the donation to be made only when the Music Minor proposal is accepted and a Music program at Dominican retained.

From everyone in the Music Department, thank you for your generous and continued support!

-------------

As you may know, the Dominican University Board of Trustees wants to close the Music Department. As one of the first degree granting programs at Dominican, the Music Department has nearly 130 years of rich history and tradition, providing invaluable music studies within a strong liberal arts curriculum.

Closing the Music Department would have a negative and profound impact on our campus. Students stand to lose an important space to engage in a rich musical education, to cultivate creativity, and to form community. In this year of COVID, when so many musicians lost their live performance work, the loss of teaching positions would be devastating to our music faculty. The music faculty and students perform in virtually all campus events, and in community-engaging cultural programs and concerts. Most importantly, the soul and cultural life of the University and the surrounding community are at stake.

We are faculty members requesting that you add your name to this petition to strongly oppose this decision and save music at Dominican. We want to send a powerful message to the Administration and Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees will meet to review this decision on Friday, May 14th, 2021.

Please add your name to the petition as soon as possible, and forward this petition to anyone in your network who supports the Music Program or who loves music.

Thank you so much for your support.

In solidarity,

Dominican University Adjunct Faculty Union
