Why this petition matters
We, the undersigned, include: UCSD students, alumni, faculty, and staff, San Diego residents, community leaders, musicians, artists, organized labor, educators, business leaders, youth, professionals, and other supporters. We have individually and collectively been directly and profoundly impacted by the Che over its 34-year history. We individually and collectively stand behind the Che, its legacy, and what it still represents: a democratically-run, safe, all-ages, alcohol and drug-free cooperative space for students and others to gather for social and intellectual exchange, music, and resource-sharing.
We sign this petition as individuals and entities who have an unwavering commitment to the survival of the Che Cafe facility and collective ("Che"). We recognize the unique and unmatched value of the Che to the University and San Diego as a whole, and cannot stand by as its existence is threatened.
