Now students in Garbally College have no choice after TY but to do the regular  leaving cert.

unlike their neighbors in Ard Scoil Mhiure who can opt for the Leaving cert applied program which proves a popular choice

The need for the programe arises when the students are not book smart or do not have the ability to do the regular leaving cert or who simply learn in a more practical manner 

In Garbally this is leading to people who don’t have the ability to drop out and many of the traveling population as a consequence goes to youth reach.  Which seems like a form of segregation. As a student with learning disabilities I really struggled with the leaving cert myself and we had no other option!!
