In the past several years, the NHL has gone through many changes. Many of these changes have seen major backlash from NHL fans in the majority of markets. There seems to be favoritism shown to the league’s “elite” players and teams of historical repute, there are gross inconsistencies in officiating which appear as negligence on the behalf of the officiating crew and upper echelon of the NHL, the leagues new expansion draft not only builds a powerhouse of a team but also risks crippling the teams from which they choose their players. 

The NHL Commissioner, Gary Bettman (appointed, 1992), is responsible for maintaining the sportsmanship and fairness of a sport that has a time-honored legacy. Gary Bettman is desecrating that legacy by allowing team/player favoritism, inconsistent penalty calling and subsequent coverup, and socialist creation of new teams. No team is immune to the borderline fraud happening in the league.

Gary Bettman needs to be held accountable for his actions. Gary Bettman needs to resign. The Board of Governors must make him resign.
