Angelo Armenti started with California University of Pa. in 1992. The university had no strong programs before Armenti.
The school fired Armenti who brought the sports program and enrollment up by a wide margin. Some people don't understand the spending needed to be done for TV programming on California University of Pa. in football and so forth.
The garage was built for a purpose so alumni could park. The new buildings needed to be built, such as McCloskey and Johnson halls because they were up for inspection and no way were they going to pass, so the new way was better.
Armenti has brought in Bill Brown (1996), Darcy Vincent (2000), and John Lockhardt (2002), so it's not like 2004 Women's Basketball National Champs was a fluke! The softball team has won two national championships since his tenure.
The student applications have increased by 90 percent and SAT scores have increased by 95. FTE enrollments have increased by 30 percent and four-year graduation rates have increased by 80 percent.
The president's firing is unjustified for overspending because of the reasons above. Maybe we should fire everyone in Harrisburg for overspending. The university has made changes for the better, so please make better judgments in the future!
So, think about what you did Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education before you go blaming people for your mistakes!
