Rebecca Garcia started this petition to Board of Education and

Corona-Norco Unified School District's Head Lice Policy currently allows children who have head lice to attend school. There is no head lice prevention, early detection and no parent awareness. "The NO NIT POLICY" must be revised! If children are sent home for "Pink Eye" the Head lice transmission should be treated the same way.

Head lice is infectious at our local school.  Some children are coming home with head lice as often as 6 consecutive weeks or 3 separate months. When children come home with lice, they are exposing the lice to their families and friends, who then carry it to other classrooms, workplaces, and public places. Educating children not to share hairbrushes, hats, and taking selfies is not enough to prevent it.  Using preventative shampoo, sprays, and oils is not always enough either. It is imperative that Corona-Norco Unified School District revises this policy

I was told by the school secretary, health clerk, and the district school nurse that if a child has lice in your school they do not need to communicate this with other parents as a precaution. Not knowing if your child has been exposed to head lice is ludicrous and unfair to both children and families. What makes matters worse is we received an email from the school of  a spook (hoax) that happened on youtube “Momo Challenge”  bringing awareness of possible danger to our children. But they fail to address a serious health issue happening in our school.

In addition to this nuisance , the cost of head lice treatment can add up quickly.  Not to mention cost of preventative lice treatment is very costly.  Exposing our children to lice killing chemicals can be harmful.  Our family has spent so much money on lice preventative treatment, as well as lice killing treatments just this school year.

Unsanitary conditions at school are a health risk to others.

Please sign this petition to change the District Policy for the Head lice guidelines. This serious problem NEEDS to be revised. Children should not be at school with lice, constantly exposing and re-exposing other children.  Once a child has been identified as having head lice, they should not return to school until treatment has begun and no sign of lice or nits are visible.

Even if you do not have children in school please consider signing this petition anyway. Head lice don't discriminate THIS AFFECTS ALL OF US!!
