Several students and I have had enough with the Board of Education not taking this pandemic solemnly enough. As an individual who attends Woodrow Wilson Middle School, I have seen nothing but coronavirus cases skyrocket.  Not in any way is this pandemic going to go away at ease if we don’t take it seriously. I strongly suggest we stay online for Edison schools for at most 14 days. 

An abundant amounts of kids have been traveling during winter break. These students can come back with covid and suddenly pass it around to their peers. I have seen students not wear their masks correctly and even walking around with no masks.These matters would get substantially worse at lunch time, when no one is wearing a mask. In my experience there are absolutely no precautions to wearing your mask correctly during school. I have observed students and teachers never wearing a mask. Statistics show that 28,500+ people have tested positive in a PCR test (in the last 12 hours of December 31st) just in New Jersey. We have over 1,344,760 total positive cases shown in a PCR test. There are almost 3,000 possible deaths.

Personally speaking, I have family members who can be exposed to covid and it can harm them indefinitely. I am aware other students have family that covid can harm. COVID-19 has been an enormous scare to my family and I.  I am truly disgusted with people who do not take it seriously. 

I have seen the way isolation destroys a persons mental health. The only way to prevent that, is to understand how we can come together and stop it. My number one priority is to keep everyone around me safe, and so should you. Covid is spreading rapidly around Edison, and I am determined to make a change.
