Rose Castro started this petition to Board of Education for Broward County and

Mr.Bocel, a math teacher at Coral Springs Charter School, was fired recently for spreading information on TikTok about the FSA's (Florida Standards Assessments).

In the TikTok (which is now deleted under his account), Mr.Bocel stated that you do not have to take the FSA's. This information was given to multiple teachers (while this has not been confirmed by Broward there is no reason why they would give it to teachers just for nothing) and these teachers can inform their students and others about the information provided to them. Our guess is that they want their school's education scores to remain high, especially in a charter school like Coral Springs Charter School where they are promoted as a school that has a high education scores.

During this school year (2020-2021) it has been a difficult year for many students teachers, and parents. Students are stressed out about testing, most feeling like they have learned nothing, and are worried about failing as a result. This is a problem as mental health will decrease significantly. Teachers are trying their best to provide the best learning environment but they have had to deal with technology issues, e-learning problems, and in person learning. Parents are also stressed, as now they have to take care of their child but also most likely provide for their family and go to work. It is completely cruel to expect children to take a test which determines their whole school year. We are not only asking for Mr.Bocel to be brought back but a clear and direct order for children to opt. out of ALL standardized testing. If you truly cared about us then you will stand with us and our grievances.

It has been a harsh time for everyone and Mr.Bocel wanted to sooth kids anxieties by providing direct information about the FSA's provided to him. It is completely unfair to fire him and they are trying to sweep it under the rug and continue on.

However, we know the truth and we want to show how unethical it is for any school to do this. To keep this information from students as well as fire a favorite teacher amongst students.
