Vote "YES" to commit $1.5 million for a new stadium with artificial surface at FDLHS!

Projects to better ensure safety and success for our students have been presented recently to the Fond du Lac Board of Education with the best interest of students and youth in this community. Two projects have been proposed:  1) A new stadium with artificial surface lined for soccer and football, a new track, bleachers, ticket gates, concessions, and restrooms - to be located at FDLHS.  2) An Indoor Facility for multi-purpose usage.  These projects would provide a playing surface that is a more durable surface, that would maximize availability for all stakeholders.

An improved surface will impact over 900 student/athletes, 1,800 students in the High School PE programs, over 150 Fond du Lac High School Marching Band students, and countless children in the Recreation Department and community youth organizations, who have outgrown the current facilities available to them.  Our facilities should match the efforts of our Teachers, Students, Coaches, Fine Arts Directors, Marching Band, and Youth Organizations. That is what they deserve and that is the standard that we ask of them. We should all be able to agree that we want what is best for our Community and School District, and we should work together to find a way to make this possible.

At the November 11, 2019 Board of Education meeting, the board agreed that a motion would be made at the upcoming board meeting (November 25, 2019) to vote on investing up to $1.5 million from the school district fund, to support facility upgrades, with remaining funds to be privately raised.  The $1.5 million commitment would allow the district to maintain a fund balance above its target 15%.  The commitment would help support private fundraising of $3.5 million.  Taxes would not be raised for this project.  The proposed project would not begin until the funds were raised.  Approval by the Board of Education would allow the first of two proposed projects (stadium/artificial outdoor surface) to be funded, providing all private funds were raised.  An investment in our students is an investment in our community, that will help attract young families and help Fond du Lac become a destination District. #fondypride
