Add “Sign Language” as an elective class in high school.

Spanish and French are offered in high school, and in most high schools are required classes to graduate. I feel as if the deaf community gets left out when people are fully capable of learning sign language as they are with Spanish and French languages. I feel like sign language should be offered as an elective for those who would like to be more efficient to the deaf community. I have been to places where people can speak different languages, but if someone who is mute comes in, the person has to write down what they need to say in order to get the point across, which I feel is unfair. If someone was at least taught the basics of sign language it would make life easier for those with the disability. It’s a choice to take art in high school, so why not the art of sign language? People of all cultures, races, and even people with disabilities deserve someone on their side, and that’s why I’m choosing to start this petition! To whom it may concern, please consider adding sign language as a high school elective, and let’s make a difference in this world! Thank you for taking the time to read my petition!
