Sarah Pringle started this petition to Blyth Valley MP and

Our son has autism, Adhd and attachment disorder. Theirs around 40% of primary school peuples with mental health issues in the UK. Our son has been subject to abuse from peers at school and in the local community from adults/parents and children. He's 11yrs old in a couple of weeks and feels icolated and vulnerable, he's afraid to play outside incase of conflicts and being assaulted by youths, he won't go to the shop around the corner from home as he's too afraid. Schools bang on about zero tolerance to bullying, they call meetings with families who are targeted and put policies in place to "help" but then it all go's out the window when other teachers don't agree with the changes or don't accept that the child in question is struggling to filter their situation at times and feel punished for not being able to ignore the abuse from peers.

We have regularly been targeted by our son's peers and their pairents. As a family this has been very upsetting and distressing, we have logged with the police every event that has happened in and out of school grounds as the school have stressed to us that they can't help with the incodents that don't take place within the school grounds, even if the conflict happens during hometime, on the public path of the school gates or even if the children are wearing their school uniform. As a parent we are defensive yet defenseless as theirs nothing we can do to keep our autistic children safe while allowing them to do normal everyday things for their age and abilities. It's so very sad that our son rather spend his spare time in the house on his xbox than to be actively socialising, playing out with friends or visiting a shop for his treats with his pocket money incase he gets robbed, attacked /beat up. I don't want to go in to too much embarrassing detail but he currently has embarrassing accidents when he feels intimidated, and has meltdowns if day to day things become overwhelming. He's on medication to help him concentrate at school but we don't see any better changes within his time at school, this is because he feels unsafe most of the time at school which has a knock on effect on his attitude.

Please help us to make things fair for everyone with special needs
