Nicholas Collins started this petition to Blue Water Area Transit and

“Blue Water Area Transit” is a boring name. “BWAT” doesn’t even make an acronym that is comfortable to say out loud. It’s clunky, it’s lame. With the addition of natural gas buses into the Blue Water Area Transit fleet it’s clear that this name must be changed to reflect their addition. Port Huron Area Rapid Transit, or “PHART”, is an appropriate name that should be slapped on the side of every natural gas powered bus in the Blue Water Area. It’s easy to say, it’s memorable, and it just fits.

Being able to say “I rode the PHART today!” would immediately boost ridership. Who wouldn’t want to ride the PHART? It’s hilarious and convenient. It also brings attention to the environmentally important purpose natural gas buses serve. If you want to highlight Port Huron and the Blue Water Area as a city with clean and efficient transit, you have to make sure everyone knows about the PHART.

Honestly, I had to look up the name of “Blue Water Area Transit” because I wasn’t sure if it was transit or transportation. The name doesn’t stick. It’s not memorable. It doesn’t bring people in. It’s bland!

People will love the natural gas PHART fleet! You just have to bring their attention to it with a fun name change!
