Some of us believe these statutes should be repealed altogether, but are pragmatic enough to understand that that is unlikely. Others of us think the blue laws are a slap in the face to our neighbors and friends who worship on Saturday.

Letter to
The New Jersey Legislature
New Jersey State House
New Jersey State Senate
WHEREAS:

Many of us believe that the blue laws in New Jersey are antiquated and should be repealed altogether, but are pragmatic enough to understand that, given the laws history of support, full repeal would be kicking a dead horse.

AND WHEREAS:

Others of us believe that the blue laws are a slap in the face to our neighbors and friends who worship on Saturdays.

AND WHEREAS:

Each time this has come to the ballot for repeal, those in favor of the blue laws consistently say it is nondiscriminatory and that they only want to have one day a week in their community without traffic and congestion.

I support the following compromise:

Replace the word "Sunday" at all places in NJSA 40A:64-1, 40A:64-2 and 40A:64-3 with the word "Monday".

Thank you for your consideration.
