Don't charge coronavirus patients for treatment

Don't charge coronavirus patients for treatment
Why this petition matters

Health insurance companies have announced that on June 1, when the pandemic will still be killing, sickening, and bankrupting huge numbers of people, they will REDUCE coverage for Covid-19.
Insurers are now covering treatment for Covid-19 without cost. But most say they will begin applying deductibles, coinsurance, and copays on June 1. That means most people will face thousands of dollars in charges if Covid-19 sends them to the hospital.
What makes this especially cruel and unnecessary is the fact that health insurance companies are now PROFITING from the pandemic. With so many people not getting routine care or elective procedures, insurers are saving far more than they’re spending on Covid-19 treatment.
So, to all the big insurance companies planning to start charging Covid-19 patients for treatment (Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Kaiser and all of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurers), JUST DON’T DO IT. You are making more than enough money as it is, and in case you haven’t noticed, people are hurting.
