Stop the proposed sale of Hyland Greens Golf Course public land

Overview

On June 26, 2017, the Bloomington City Council voted to request proposals (RFPs) to sell ten acres of public land at Hyland Greens Golf Course for private development.

This is the first time in Bloomington's history that the City Council is attempting to sell public land.  By enacting the RFP process, the City Council has now set a precedence that threatens other public land in Bloomington including neighborhood parks and the remainder of Hyland Greens Golf Course.  Private development of public land at Hyland Greens Golf Course may also increase traffic, increase the safety risk for children going to and from the three schools on 102nd Street due to higher traffic volume, and destroy this unique and beautiful public land.

Request

The purpose of this petition is to require the Bloomington City Council to cancel the proposed sale of Hyland Greens Golf Course public land for private development, and to only consider options to re-purpose the public land that will retain the ownership of the land by the citizens of Bloomington.
