Let’s stand together, don’t abandon Millthorpe

Millthorpe is a unique, historical village. At an altitude of 965 m it experiences mild summers, cool autumns and cold, sometimes snowy winters. It is home to many grand heritage buildings, quaint historical cottages, and many majestic colourful and exotic trees.

Millthorpe’s unique heritage village atmosphere is enhanced by its bluestone kerbs and laneways, country pubs, cafes, specialist boutique shops, restaurants and verandas that shelter its walkways.

The village is surrounded by land where children play, and paddocks where horses, sheep and cattle graze. It is this combination of open space both within and encircling the village that attracts families for its unique and unclutteredlifestyle and beauty, and its many and varied tourists.

The village of Millthorpe as we know it is now at risk.

On Monday, 28 June 2021 councillors at Blayney Shire Council voted against an application to develop and subdivide 3.6 ha of green space at the south-east corner of the village for the construction of 23 medium density residential lots for housing. The application was for 23 dwellings on less than 10 acres, many of the proposed lots being less than 600 m².

That vote against the development is now the subject of a motion to rescind. Blayney Council will soon have another meeting to vote on this application to allow this proposed intensive development and construction of up to 23 residencesin our historical and unique village.

Do you want the unique beauty and character of our village retained?

If you want Millthorpe to retain its uniqueness, its charm, historic authenticity and beauty while supporting thoughtfuland creative development please sign this petition.

This petition does not oppose sensitive development of thespace 61 Forest Reefs Road, but it does oppose the medium-density development currently proposed.

Let’s stand together.
