We need help in upgrading local facilities open to residents of Quakers Hill.

Paterson reserve

Off leash area
Off street parking
Soccer fields
Walking path

Paterson reserve is hired year round by local sporting groups including Soccer and Cricket. The local soccer club is the 2nd biggest in the Blacktown district with over 600 families all residing in the Blacktown local council electorate. This equates to over 4000 members.

The upgrades needed and the reasoning are all below.

The car park that is attached to Paterson Reserve which is located @ Torbert Avenue, Quakers Hill 2763 is a accident waiting to happen. There are up to 70 car park spaces in that small car park and with only 1 in and out roadway the amount of vehicles, amount of people and chance of an catastrophic injury occurring is only a matter of time. There is absolutely no lighting in that car park.

Currently the car park is used for a variety of community users. Local soccer club with over 600 members, local cricket club as well as recreational users of the park basketball courts and dog park and surrounding grounds. The carpark is also used by the local Mary Immaculate Primary School in mornings and afternoons.

Walkway to the fields. The walkway is currently in a state of wreckage. The previous foot bridge has been removed and not replaced leaving a 3m x 2m hole that is filled with water measuring around 30-40 cm depth. There are no visual barriers or warning signs notifying users of this risk.

Tennis courts resurfacing (hasn’t been resurfaced in 10 years). Many community users pay to use these facilities as well as a local tennis school. The resurfacing assists all. Also the fencing is cut and allows access to non-hirers who do not respect the surface and cause more damage.

Storage and club house. This clubhouse has had no upgrade in over 25 years.  The clubhouse consists of 2 bathrooms 2 changerooms a small 2m x 2m storage room and a canteen. There is no space for community sports to store or use these facilities for anything other than equipment. The changerooms are having to be used to store enough equipment in the winter for 600+ players. The only storage soccer have been given is a shipping container that is a huge risk to public safety.
