Petitioning Blackberry / RIM (Research in Motion)
This petition will be delivered to:
Blackberry / RIM (Research in Motion)

Stop Blackberry/RIM over charging UK customers in purchasing applications.

Blackberry/RIM (Research in Motion) offer a range of software applications to support and compliment their range of smartphones and tablets. These applications are only available to purchase and install via native software on these devices, known as 'Blackberry App World'.

Blackberry are either blissfully ignorant of the following problem or have deliberately chosen to ignore international exchange rates when charging for purchases made from their store. The latter clearly being worse.

The issue is this:

A Blackberry customer in the United States can make a purchase of a single application that costs $10.00 in local currency.

The same application in the UK will be listed at £10.00 for purchase. You'll will note that the national currency symbol has changed and not the value.

As of 5pm on the 24/09/2012, 1 British pound sterling = 1.6217 US dollars
(Source Google Currency Conversion).

Thus the same application purchased in the UK would cost $16.22 and is a markup of 62 percent.

This petition proposes that:

1 - Blackberry/RIM make an immediate and clear statement that they are aware of this issue on their 'Blackberry App World' software.
2 - That Blackberry fix this issue with an announcement of when this will be implemented. Blackberry do in fact have correct currency conversions between various markets but have not implemented it between them and the UK.

This campaign will stay active and seek further publicity until Blackberry/RIM resolve this issue.
