In light of recent events with the murder of George Floyd, years of racism towards the black community and all the lives lost, I believe we should make blackout Tuesday annual in order to keep raising awareness. This is something we need to keep fighting for as it is an ongoing issue and goes against human rights. A black square with a hashtag is simply not enough. We must keep talking about it, learning, remembering, and making more people aware of the issue so we can stop this injustice. Taking a day each year to remember the lives lost to racism and injustice, celebrate and appreciate the black culture and community and keep raising awareness, we can make a difference. Please don’t stay silent in time of injustice, please be kind.
