After overcoming suicidal thoughts and hating going to school I led other students in walking out to protest the firing of a gay teacher.

We then started a gay-straight alliance to help all students.

Now Dowling Catholic won’t allow the Matthew Shepard Scholarship I won to be presented at my Senior Awards program.
