The Most Reverend, Bishop Robert P. Deeley,

A letter by Archbishop Viganò, former Nuncio to the United States, written on August 22, 2018 provides testimony account of his multiple efforts over the last decade to convey the unscrupulous behavior of former Cardinal McCarrick to his superiors.

In this astonishing 11-page written testament, Archbishop Viganò has detailed his determination to bring light to Catholics regarding several high ranking prelates on complicity in covering up Archbishop McCarrick's allegations of sexual abuse, and has claimed that Pope Francis knew about sanctions imposed by Pope Benedict XVI, on then Cardnial McCarrick, but chose to repeal them.

I recognize that these are allegations until they are proven, but given the details described by Archbishop Viganò, the findings of the recent grand jury report in Pennsylvannia, and the overall climate within our universal church worldwide - please consider them credible and in need of a thorough investigation.

I recognize that you alone may not have the authority to launch an investigation, yet as His Excellency Carlo Maria Viganò pleaded in the letter "I implore everyone, especially Bishops, to speak up in order to defeat this conspiracy of silence that is so widespread, and to report the cases of abuse they know about to the media and civil authorities."

As the flock of Jesus Christ, we must not turn away from Him - but turn to Him in this time.  Pray with his body, Holy Mother Church and the intercession of Our Blessed Mother that God aid us to be courageous in this difficult time and to become leaders to drive positive change.  As a shepherd yourself, encourage your brethren to remain holy and remain transparent with communcation to us: the faithful.  As Viganò depicts it "To restore the beauty of holiness to the face of the Bride of Christ, which is terribly disfigured by so many abominable crimes"..."We must tear down the conspiracy of silence".
