Safer Speed Limits along Bell Hill , Shenley Lane and Barnes Hill
This petition had 191 supporters
For many years I have attempted to get the speed limit along Bell Hill, right through to the Island at California way changed, so it would be one standard speed of 30mph. The area in question takes in Victoria School, a small shopping center, St David’s Church, Shenley Court Academy and Shenley Community Association.
I feel that due to the facilities and establishments that are on the road, the higher speed limit is unsafe and not a realistic speed that vehicles should be travelling at along roads where there will be times when there are high number of pedestrians or a build-up of traffic and parked cars.
The changes in speed causes confusion to drivers and poses a risk to not only them but pedestrians and other road users. Myself and other residents witness daily the high speeds at which the traffic passes through.
By limiting the speed to 30mph it will make it clearer to road users what speed they should be travelling at, along that section, preventing accidents as well as Increasing road safety to all who use it.
With your support and signatures, I intend to present this petition to The Birmingham City Council Transportation Department and our Ward Engineers in the hope that we will finally be able to make a change.
I am aiming for 1000 signatures of people who are in support of the change.
Please sign and share the petition.
Thank you for your support.
