TheSkateparkInitiative want to work with the best local park designers to work out what can be done in the most cost efficient and socially productive way.

We are petitioning for the build of a free, outdoor skatepark facility in the Erdington area of Birmingham.

We feel that Erdington has been deprived of good, practical resource for the younger generation for many a year, often seeing flats and housing estates go up on our grass instead of football fields and activity areas.

Our nearest skateparks are in Sutton Coldfield, Yardley, Smiths Wood and Walsall. For a group of fifteen year olds from Erdington or Kingstanding, non of those places are with long walking distance, three of which are at least half an hour on a bus. Not particularly safe and definitely not free of charge.

We feel that Erdington is due somewhere safe for our kids to learn disciplines they love, on a properly built facility designed to enhance their abilities with every use. Skateparks are breeding grounds for people  to develop social skills whilst keeping as physically active as possible.
