Tom Huxley started this petition to Birmingham City Council Planning Committee

We, the undersigned, do not want a school to be built on Yardley Wood Playing Fields.

Proposals to build a school on Yardley Wood Playing Fields have been submitted to the Council’s planning committee.

We only have until Thursday 14th of March to formally object.

Please submit your objections through the planning portal on the Birmingham City Council web site. Click here to do this.

The full final plans are now available to view on the Council’s planning portal.

There is some evidence that they have noticed and responded to our campaigns — there are significantly more parking spaces than previously proposed, for example. However it is still inadequate for such a large school by a confined residential area with narrow roads; there are likely to be significant parking issues across the estate.

The school would occupy the whole of Yardley Wood Playing Fields with no public right of access. We feel that losing your local green space is not acceptable.

The school overlooks back gardens and the plans admit that floodlights on the pitch would affect the rear of a number of houses.

Please make sure you submit your own objections via the planning portal as well as signing this petition.

We have campaigned against this school over the past year despite not being elected to the Council last May — we made a promise and intend to keep it. The decision to sell off your playing fields and build a school on them is supported by the Labour-run Council and local Labour Councillors but they must instead listen to what people on this estate want.
