Save Our Handsworth Wood Tennis Courts!

The owner of Butlers Courts Lane Tennis Club (Hamstead Lawn Tennis Club) has applied to Birmingham City Council for an outline planning application with appearance, landscaping, layout and scale reserved for future consideration for the erection of 5 dwelling house. This proposal, if agreed will result in the loss of 3 high quality, all-weather Tennis Courts and Pavilion facility FOREVER.

As residents of Handsworth Wood, we strongly believe the facilities have not been made available to the local community. There is no sign displayed on Butlers Road to determine where the Tennis Courts are located. There are no provisions in place for interested parties to contact the Tennis Club.

The applicant has not provided a children's play area as per the conditions of the previous planning application and has not continuously marketed in the local area to promote the use of the Tennis Club.

There is a lack of public facilities in the Handsworth Wood area for the community, and we believe as residents of Handsworth Wood, the use of the Tennis Club by the local community would be welcomed. We strongly object to the proposal by the applicant to fund the relocation of the Tennis Courts to Handsworth Park as the local community in Handsworth Wood would benefit from Tennis Courts in the immediate vicinity.

Please sign this petition to help save Handsworth Wood Tennis Courts and allow the community to benefit from its use.
