Students taking Organic Chemistry 2 at Binghamton are among the best and brightest in New York. Yet despite our strong academic standing, most find the exams demoralizing to say the least. The vast majority of us spend countless hours outside the classroom studying, attending office hours, and getting tutoring, only to be utterly unprepared for exams. 
Organic chemistry should be difficult. As strong students we recognize this and welcome the challenge. However many of us aspire to go to med school, P.A. programs, or earn PhDs, and not having a curve in Orgo puts us at a severe disadvantage compared to our peers at other institutions. Put simply, if a class of approximately 900 of Binghamton’s top students has a terrible average, the students are not to blame. We urge the chemistry department to consider curving Orgo 2.
