Why this petition matters

Started by Lauren Picone

This year, Binghamton students are required to return to classes on April 13th, which means in order to make it back to school in time for class, most students must leave their families on April 12th, otherwise known as Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday is an incredibly important holiday to most, if not all, branches of Christianity and is meant to be a day that is celebrated with family. However, because of Binghamton's class schedule, students must miss out on observing the holiday with their families to get back to school in time. Students also had to come back last year (Spring 2019) on Easter Sunday to get to class in time, which means that Christian students having to miss Easter with their families is clearly a reoccurring problem. This petition asks that from this year forward, Binghamton University starts classes the Tuesday after Easter Sunday, in order to allow students, staff, and faculty to fully celebrate Easter with their loved ones.
