Provide Equal Access to Education For All

Provide Equal Access to Education For All
Why this petition matters
This is the idea, free public schooling that is maintained at the level of private education. This means no uniforms, no religion, no un-certified teachers without regulations, and no one-gendered schools. Schools with wide varieties of people who are all coming to learn. It would be funded by an outside source, all schools would receive funding based on the amount of students, and there wouldn’t be any need for a hierarchy. From my research, I learned that public schooling
allows for self-expression and diverse experiences, and private school offers a more secure learning environment. The combination of the two would provide equal education that doesn’t evolve around income. It would provide all students the opportunities to be successful in college and life, without the worry of paying for supplies or tuition. It would be the gateway to free continuing education, and an investment worth pursuing.
We need to start omitting the inequalities in America, and it has to begin somewhere. Education should not be based on gender, race, sexuality, social class, or religion, yet it is geared towards those very things. It is past the time to make change, and maybe this will finally be the fight that starts it all. Who can make an argument towards providing proper education?
Free school, equal access, equal chance at success.
In the state of Oregon, it takes on average less than 10 million dollars a year to fund public education at grade school level. There are two billionaires in Oregon, both who have a net worth higher than a billion dollars each. If both were to donate 1% of one billion dollars, it would be enough to fund public schools in Oregon for two years.
There are over 500 billionaires in the United States alone, and over 2,000 worldwide. Establishing a 1% tax on billionaires would provide the nation's youth with the tools they deserve to become successful.
