Mental Health treatment is in crises. It is inaccessible to many americans due to medical insurance barriers to access care. We are requesting that legislation be implemented eliminating barriers such as: excessive deductibles, excessive co-payments and limited provider networks. In addition, mental health providers should be reimbursed at a fair an equitable rate. Decreasing insurance reimbursement is forcing many Masters and Doctoral level providers to only accept self payment for services. The average american cannot afford these out-of-pocket expenses especially after paying exorbitant insurance premiums.

If we continue to turn our back on this critical health issue, people will continue to suffer and families will be in crises. If left untreated, mental illness can not only lead to a decrease in productivity, devastating financial hardships, but can result in community devastation due to behaviors caused by the illness. This issue impacts all of us. Each and everyone of us is or will be effected by mental illness in their lives. Mental health is not a luxury.
