Indefinitely waive Jones Act for Puerto Rico to help in recovery and debt payment.

The Jones Act, which requires that goods shipped from one American port to another be transported on a ship that is American-built, American-owned, and crewed by US citizens or permanent residents. Shipments of goods from the island to the US mainland, and vice versa, must be conducted via expensive protected ships rather than exposing them to global competition. That makes everything Puerto Ricans buy unnecessarily expensive relative to goods purchased on the US mainland (Vox.com cited). By waving indefinitely this law for Puerto Rico, it will help in the speedy recovery from the devastation left behind by Hurricane Maria and afterwards aid the Puerto Rico economy in payment of the massive debt the country has.
